Blog #1: Welcome to Team Sikkim!
May 12, 2025
Hello there! My name is PancakeCamilo (but you could call me PanCam) and I’d like to welcome you to Team Sikkim! This project of mine is one that I’ve been wanting to work on for a long while, so it’s exciting to finally see the group band together to create games.

This is the temporary logo we are using so far. Made by PanCam in Aseprite
Let’s Start With The Basics
Team Sikkim consists of 8 members, each of which you can read about on the “Our Team” page. We also have a Youtube, Instagram, and Twitter account. We won’t use them much for now until we get the ball rolling. For more context, most of the work you see on this site (and pretty much everything else outside of games and some art) is worked on by me. These dev blogs will also most likely be worked on by me alone, but I’d like to have some members chime in every now and then to give their thoughts on the matter. Most of what you see on this site and on our socials are temporary placeholders for projects we would like to finalize. For example, the name and art cover for the game we’re making is all temporary. The team logo is also temporary, until we come up with something better. As we continue to work on projects, I’ll make sure to update the site and socials to match our current work. I think it would be interesting to go back on these dev blogs and say “damn this is what it all first looked like”.
How These Blogs Will Work
As we work on projects, I’ll update you guys every week or so on how game development is going. The blogs will offer some updates on Team Sikkim stuff but they’ll mostly be focused on our projects. The info we share could range from new characters to game mechanics. We’ll also make sure not to spoil anything for our games, so we won’t share all the info we have. I’ll add either some art or screenshots of our current progress so you guys could stay in the loop of how things are going behind the scenes. I have also disabled comments as of now. I want to spend a bit more time working on the comment system before releasing it to the public, so if you have any thoughts or feedback you’d like to give then feel free to either message me on any of my socials or come over to my discord server and we could discuss it there.
Our Current Game: Project Karma
Finally getting into what pretty much everyone wants to see, our game! From our first meeting on May 7th, we’ve started working on a brand new game titled Project Karma. You’ve probably seen the temporary cover art for it on our homepage.

So what is Project Karma exactly? There’s a lot of stuff that’s set in stone and other stuff that’s still in development, so for now I’ll focus on what we have in mind. The title “Project Karma” originated from having some sort of Karma system in the game, which would essentially replace magic or mana. We combined it with the word project, since this is the current project we’re working on, and that’s how we arrived at our temporary title. We’ll be referring to anything about the game as Project Karma until after we decided on a finalized title.
As for the gameplay, we decided to go with a mix of a 2D platformer and RPG. Think of it similar to the Mario and Luigi games, where some of the game is split into having platform challenges and the other half is split with RPG elements in mind. The game will be worked on in Godot (good luck me) and the art will consist of 2D sprites, which will be made on Aseprite. The theming and aesthetic of the game will be centered around dark fantasy. We thought it would be interesting to work with, given as it’s a semi-popular genre that looks pretty cool.
Story wise, I won’t share any details in this blog. We have a solid idea for our story in terms of characters, endings, etc. However it’s probably best if we leave the story vague for now. I will tell you though that the main character is a little girl with her companion, a white rabbit, as they go on a pilgrimage to fix her castle. That’s all I’ll tell for now story wise, I hope you look forward to the rest of it!
We plan to make this game around 1 or 2 hours long. It’s going to be a pretty short game (I bet most of our games will be pretty short for now actually) since we’ll be able to sharpen our current skills and learn programs without getting too committed. We plan to finish working on Project Karma by sometime August of this year. When it comes out it’ll be published for free on itch.io. For now it’ll be available for Windows only until further notice, sorry Mac users. I’ll try my best to see how hard it’ll be to port on Mac and if it’s worth doing so, but that’s an answer only time could tell.

Thank You for Reading!
I really appreciate that you’ve read this far into the blog. I hope to update you guys every week or so with new updates on our team and game. I would also like to warn you now to please not expect a perfect game from us. This is our first game ever, first time making 2D art, and first time coding. When Project Karma first releases, it’ll probably not look too great and be filled with tons of bugs. But regardless of those issues, I hope you all will be able to look past them and find yourself enjoying the next hour or so playing our game. Who know’s though, maybe coding games will be simpler than it seems (I hope lol).
Thank you so much for reading, I hope you look forward to what’s coming!
